Hun

Hun is the capital of the Al Jufrah district, located in central Libya approximately 600 km south of Tripoli. It is the largest oasis settlement in the region, with a population of about 30,000. Hun has served as a caravan stop on the north–south route across the Sahara for centuries. The town is centred on a large palm oasis, fed by underground aquifers, and has a small medina with traditional architecture. The climate is extreme desert: summer temperatures regularly exceed 45°C, while winter days are warm (20–25°C) and nights are cold.

Hun Airport is a domestic airstrip with irregular service. The nearest major airport is Sabha Airport (SEB IATA), about 200 km south.

The settlement is walkable. Local taxis are available for longer trips.

By Car / Road

Hun is on the paved highway from Tripoli to Sabha. By shared minibus, the journey from Tripoli takes 7–9 hours. From Sabha, about 2–3 hours.
