Overview

Margibi County is a coastal county in central Liberia, bordering the Atlantic Ocean and immediately northeast of Monrovia. The capital Kakata is a busy commercial centre on the road from Monrovia to Gbarnga. The county is known for the Firestone rubber plantation in Harbel — one of the largest rubber plantations in the world — which has been a major part of Liberia's economy for over a century. Margibi also has beaches and lagoons along its coastline.
