Anjara
'Ajlun, Jordan
Why visit Anjara?
Anjara is a predominantly Christian town in 'Ajlūn Governorate, known for its churches and religious significance. The town is believed to be the site where Jesus Christ rested during his journey between Jerusalem and Galilee, and a shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary attracts pilgrims. Anjara sits in the green highlands of northern Jordan, surrounded by olive groves and forests.
The town has a mixed Muslim-Christian population, with a strong Christian heritage reflected in its churches and religious festivals. The climate is Mediterranean: warm dry summers and cool rainy winters. Anjara is a quieter, more culturally distinct alternative to the nearby tourist hubs of Ajloun and Jerash.
