Why visit Yoshinogari?
Yoshinogari (吉野ヶ里) is a town in Saga Prefecture, home to the Yoshinogari Historical Park, one of the largest and most important Yayoi-period (300 BC–300 AD) archaeological sites in Japan. The park features reconstructed moated settlements, watchtowers, and pit dwellings, offering a vivid glimpse into prehistoric Japan. The site was discovered in 1986 and has been excavated and reconstructed over subsequent decades. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit; the cherry blossoms in spring add to the experience.
