Why visit Fukuchiyama?
Fukuchiyama is a city in northern Kyoto Prefecture, serving as the transport and commercial hub of the region. It developed as a castle town under the Oda and Tokugawa clans during the Edo period. Today, Fukuchiyama is an important junction for the JR San'in Main Line and the Kyoto Tango Railway, connecting Kyoto to the Sea of Japan coast. The city has a well-preserved castle, a historic old town, and a thriving agricultural hinterland.
