Why visit Mitoyo?

Mitoyo (三豊) is a city in western Kagawa Prefecture formed by the 2006 merger of several towns. It sits on the coast of the Seto Inland Sea with a landscape of small islands, satoyama (traditional countryside), and agricultural land. Mitoyo is known for its citrus orchards, salt production heritage, and access to the remote islands of the Inland Sea. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant weather.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Takamatsu Airport (TAK) is about 40 minutes. Matsuyama Airport (MYJ) is about 1.5 hours.

By Train

The JR Yosan Line runs through Mitoyo with several stations. From Takamatsu, limited express trains take about 45 minutes (¥2,120). Local trains stop at various stations in the city.

By Car / Road

Route 11 passes through the area. From Takamatsu it's about 40 minutes by car. Parking is available at coastal parks and ferry terminals.

A car is essential for exploring Mitoyo's dispersed attractions. Some areas have limited bus service, and cycling is possible on quieter roads.

Mitoyo's cuisine features fresh seafood from the Inland Sea and citrus-flavored dishes. Sanuki udon is widely available. Small family-run restaurants serve set meals ¥800–1,500.
