About Ainan

Ainan (愛南) is a town in southwestern Ehime Prefecture, located on the Uwa Sea coast at the southern tip of the prefecture. It is a rural area of fishing villages, citrus orchards, and scenic coastline. Formed in 2004 from the merger of several towns and villages, Ainan is off the main tourist trail and offers a genuine look at coastal Shikoku life. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons.

How to reach

By Plane

Matsuyama Airport (MYJ) is about 2 hours north. Kochi Airport (KCZ) is about 2.5 hours east.

By Train

Ainan has no railway station. The nearest train stations are in Yawatahama (JR Yosan Line) or Uwajima (JR Yosan Line), about 1 hour away by bus.

By Car / Road

Route 56 runs through Ainan along the coast. From Matsuyama it's about 2 hours by car. From Uwajima it's about 1 hour.

A car is absolutely essential. Public transport is very limited.
