How do you get there?

Parma is on the Milan–Bologna high-speed rail line and the Via Emilia.

The Oltretorrente and the historic centre east of the Parma stream are both walkable from the railway station.

The Teatro Regio, one of Italy's leading opera houses, is the venue for the annual Festival Verdi in October. The University of Parma, one of the oldest universities in the world, and the Oltretorrente quarter on the western bank of the Parma stream are also notable parts of the city.
