Daquq
Kirkūk, Iraq
Why visit Daquq?
Daquq (Arabic: داقوق, Kurdish: داقووق) is a town in Kirkūk Governorate, northern Iraq, about 25 km south of Kirkuk city. It is an agricultural settlement on the banks of the Little Zab River, in a mixed Turkmen, Arab, and Kurdish region. The town has a long history, with its name possibly deriving from the ancient Babylonian and Assyrian periods. The surrounding area is fertile and green relative to central Iraq, fed by the Little Zab. Summers reach 40–42°C; winters are cool and sometimes rainy. Spring (March–May) is the loveliest time.
