Santa Ana
La Paz, Honduras
Why visit Santa Ana?
Santa Ana is a small municipio in the department of La Paz, in the central-western highlands of Honduras, an area with a strong Lenca indigenous presence and an economy built on coffee, corn, and vegetable farming across hilly terrain. The town itself keeps to the familiar Honduran pattern: a plaza fronted by the Catholic church and municipal building, with small comedores and shops serving the surrounding rural aldeas.
Santa Ana draws very few outside visitors and has no dedicated tourism infrastructure; it is best understood as a working highland farming community, useful mainly to travellers exploring La Paz department beyond the departmental capital, La Paz city. Elevation keeps the climate milder than Honduras's hot coastal lowlands, with cool mornings and evenings and warm, sunny days through the dry season.
