The climate is tropical maritime with temperatures averaging 27–31 °C and sea breezes providing relief from the heat. The rainy season runs from October to February. Sambo Creek's beach is lined with coconut palms and the village has a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere.

By Plane
The nearest airport is Golosón International Airport (LCE) in La Ceiba, approximately 15 km to the east. A taxi from the airport costs around L 300–400 and takes about 20 minutes. Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP) near San Pedro Sula is roughly 130 km to the west.
By Car / Road
Sambo Creek is located just off the coastal highway (CA-13), approximately 15 km west of La Ceiba. The drive from La Ceiba takes about 15–20 minutes. From San Pedro Sula, expect 2–2.5 hours (130 km). Colectivo minibuses run between La Ceiba and Sambo Creek for around L 30–40.
Sambo Creek is a small village easily explored on foot. The beach, central area, and most accommodations are within walking distance. Boats for excursions can be arranged at the beach.
