Birch Grove

Saint Andrew, Grenada

Why visit Birch Grove?

Birch Grove is a small community in the interior of Saint Andrew parish, Grenada, known for its proximity to cocoa plantations and rainforest. The village sits at moderate elevation in the green hills of the northeastern interior, surrounded by the agricultural landscape that defines inland Saint Andrew. It is a quiet, rural settlement with no commercial infrastructure for visitors.

The village is named after the grove-like character of the surrounding landscape, where cultivated trees — cocoa, nutmeg, banana — create a canopy environment that feels like managed forest rather than open farmland. The transition between agricultural land and genuine rainforest is gradual, and Birch Grove sits at that boundary.

The climate is tropical with higher rainfall than the coast due to elevation and the proximity of rainforest. The dry season (January–May) is the best time for walking and exploration. The wet season brings lush growth but also muddy paths and leeches on forest trails.
