Why visit Leava?

How do you get there?

Most visitors arrive at Pointe Vele Airport and take a taxi to Leava (about a 15-minute drive). Passenger ships from Nouméa and Wallis anchor offshore and transfer passengers via small boat to Leava's wharf. The wharf is the main cargo and passenger hub for Futuna.

Leava is small and walkable. Taxis are available for trips to other parts of Futuna. The coastal road runs through the village connecting to Ono and Sigave.

What are the things to do?

The wharf area is lively when a ship arrives. Leava has a traditional church and village square. The coastline offers views of the open ocean. The hills behind the village provide hiking opportunities.

Walk along the coast and watch for local fishing boats. Hike into the hills for views of the island and the sea. Visit the village's Sunday church service. Talk to locals at the wharf during ship days.
