Why visit Mliba?

Mliba is a small settlement in eastern Manzini Region, located near the boundary with Lubombo Region in the lowveld. The area is predominantly rural, with scattered homesteads, cattle grazing, and dryland agriculture. The landscape consists of open savannah with acacia trees and tall grasses, transitioning to the Lubombo Escarpment in the east.

The climate is hotter and drier than the Manzini highveld, with summer maximums regularly exceeding 35°C. Mliba is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path destination suited to travellers exploring the lowveld and the nearby Lubombo mountains.

How do you get there?

By Plane

King Mswati III International Airport (SHO) is 45 km north-west. A taxi costs around 400–600 SZL.

By Car / Road

Mliba is reached via a secondary road off the MR8, approximately 40 km east of Manzini. The road is partly paved, with gravel sections in the final approach. Minibuses run from Manzini's main rank (1.5 hours, 35 SZL).

Walking is the main mode within the settlement. A 4×4 is useful for exploring the surrounding countryside.
