Castillo is a small municipality in the Duarte province of the Cibao Nordeste region, situated in the agricultural lowlands southeast of San Francisco de Macorís. With a population of roughly 12,000, it is a quiet rural town surrounded by rice paddies, cacao plantations, and cattle ranches. The town is known locally for its agricultural fairs and traditional Dominican countryside lifestyle.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Cibao International Airport (STI) in Santiago, approximately 100 km west (about 1 hour 40 minutes by car).

By Car / Road

From San Francisco de Macorís, Castillo is about 25 km southeast (30 minutes) via local roads. From Santiago, the drive is approximately 100 km (1 hour 40 minutes) via the Autopista Duarte and local roads. Guaguas connect Castillo with San Francisco de Macorís.

Castillo is small and walkable. Motoconchos charge RD$30–50 for local trips.
