Why visit Oroklini?

Oroklini (Greek: Ορόκλινη), also officially known as Voroklini (Βορόκλινη), is a village situated approximately 8 km northeast of Larnaca. The municipality is divided into two distinct areas: the picturesque old village, built on the slopes of a hillside, and the modern tourist area along the coast, which features hotels, restaurants, and beaches.

The village is famous for Oroklini Lake, a natural shallow salt lake that is one of the most important wetlands in Cyprus. It is a designated Special Protection Area (SPA) under the European Union's Birds Directive, hosting over 190 species of birds, including migrating pink flamingos and nesting spur-winged plovers.

Oroklini offers the best of both worlds: the charm of a traditional hillside village with panoramic sea views, and a lively coastal resort strip with excellent tourist amenities. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Larnaca Glafcos Clerides International Airport (IATA: LCA), located about 15 km southwest of Oroklini. A taxi ride takes approximately 15 minutes and costs around €20 to €30.

By Car / Road

Oroklini is located just off the A3 motorway (Larnaca-Ayia Napa highway) and the B3 coastal road. It is an 8-minute drive from central Larnaca. Local buses run frequently between central Larnaca and the Oroklini tourist area (Dhekelia Road).

The coastal tourist strip along Dhekelia Road is flat and highly walkable, with pedestrian paths and bicycle lanes. The old village on the hill is located about 2 km inland; while it can be walked, a car, taxi, or bicycle is recommended due to the uphill climb.
