San Antonio del Sur

Guantánamo, Cuba

Why visit San Antonio del Sur?

San Antonio del Sur is a coastal municipality in the Guantánamo province, situated on the southern coast of eastern Cuba along the Caribbean Sea. The town is a small fishing and agricultural centre with a population of a few thousand. The municipality stretches from the coastal lowlands into the foothills of the interior mountains.

The economy is based on fishing, agriculture (sugar cane, coconut, and tropical fruits), and livestock. The coastal location provides a livelihood for fishermen who work the Caribbean waters. The landscape alternates between flat coastal plains and hilly terrain inland.

The climate is tropical, with a rainy season from May to October. The coast is warm year-round, with temperatures averaging 28–32°C. The dry season (November–April) is the best time to visit, with calmer seas and more comfortable conditions.
