Deyang
Sichuan Sheng, China
Why visit Deyang?
Deyang (德阳; Déyáng) is a prefecture-level city in central Sichuan, located about 60 km north of Chengdu. It is an important industrial city (heavy machinery, particularly for the power generation and nuclear industries) but also a city of surprising cultural and natural attractions. The most famous of these is the Sanxingdui archaeological site — one of the most important Bronze Age discoveries in China, dating from 1,200–1,000 BCE, with unique and mysterious artefacts (large bronze masks, a bronze tree, gold foil) that have transformed understanding of early Chinese civilization. Deyang also has pleasant parks and easy access to the foothills of the Longmen Mountains. The climate is subtropical monsoon.
