Logone-Occidental (Western Logone) is a province in south-western Chad, part of the fertile Logone River basin. It is one of Chad's most agriculturally productive regions, with cotton, rice, groundnuts, and sorghum grown on the alluvial plains. The Logone River flows through the province, supporting irrigation and providing fish. The capital is Moundou, Chad's second-largest city and economic hub.
The population is predominantly Sara, with a strong Christian and animist cultural heritage alongside Muslim communities. The province has a milder, wetter climate than the Sahelian north.
When is the best time to visit?
November to February offers the most pleasant weather. The rainy season (May–October) brings heavy rain and can make some roads difficult.
