Why visit Nguti?

Nguti is a small town in Cameroon's South-West Region, serving as the headquarters of Nguti Subdivision within Kupé-Manengouba Division. It lies in equatorial rainforest around 5°19′N, 9°25′E, amid rolling hills and deep valley systems that form part of one of Central Africa's most biologically rich forest zones. The subdivision covers roughly 1,850 km² and comprises 54 villages; the 2005 census recorded about 27,000 inhabitants across the commune, with roughly 4,500 living in Nguti town itself. Four principal ethnic groups — the Mbo, Balong, Bassossi, and Bakossi — populate the area. The council was created by presidential decree in 1967 and became operational the following year. Nguti borders eight other communes, including Mamfé, Tinto, Fontem, Santchou, Melong, Bangem, and Konye.
