Why visit Bani Jamra?

Bani Jamra (Arabic: بني جمرة) is a historic village in the Northern Governorate of Bahrain, widely recognised as the traditional centre of textile weaving in Bahrain. For centuries, the village has been home to master weavers who produce the distinctive Bahraini bisht (a traditional men's cloak worn on formal occasions) and other handwoven textiles using vertical wooden looms. The craft is passed down through families and Bani Jamra remains a living heritage site.

The village itself is a traditional settlement with narrow lanes, older houses with wind towers, and a strong sense of community. Weaving workshops are scattered throughout the village, and visitors are welcome to watch the artisans at work and purchase their products. Bani Jamra provides one of the most authentic craft tourism experiences in Bahrain. The best time to visit is from November to March.
