Gadabay

Gədəbəy, Azerbaijan

Why visit Gadabay?

Gadabay (Gədəbəy) is a town of about 11,000 people (2020) in the Ganja Region of Azerbaijan. It sits in a deep rural area of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains and offers scenic mountain views. The name is difficult to transliterate due to local pronunciation and literally means "Sir Boy-Servant", likely named after the nickname of a former landowner. The town is known for its gold and copper mining, and the surrounding district has notable Bronze Age cyclopean constructions and medieval fortresses.

The climate is mountainous, with cold winters and mild summers. The best time to visit is late spring through early autumn (May–September).
