This is the replanned version of the honeymoon: an Air India open-jaw (Rome in, Milan out) replaces the original Milan round-trip, dropping Milan in favour of three romantic nights on Lake Como for the finale.
The August anniversary is deliberately held as a full, travel-free day in Venice - a slow morning, the quiet canals, and a private gondola ride at dusk before a celebratory dinner in Cannaregio.
The whole intercity route runs on the Frecciarossa high-speed spine covered by a 4-day Eurail Italy pass; seat reservations are mandatory (about 13 euro per person per leg) and should be booked in advance.
A single Italy Schengen visa covers the trip. You arrive just before Ferragosto in mid-August; Rome stays festive, and the Venice and Lake Como nights sit comfortably clear of the peak.
The Lake Como hotel is a fresh booking for peak August - lock a lakeside Varenna property early, and tell them you are pure vegetarian so meals can be arranged with notice.
