Good to Know

Visa

Schengen short-stay via Finland, which is reliable at the standard 15 working days; apply within a week or two of confirmation.

Midnight sun

In early June the sun barely sets in Rovaniemi (nearly 24 hours of daylight). Pack eye masks for sleeping and sunglasses for the low Arctic sun.

Getting around

Fast, family-friendly VR trains link the south; one Finnair flight and one overnight sleeper cover the run up to Lapland and back.

Pack for Lapland

Layers and a light rain jacket; bring insect repellent for Lapland mosquitoes in June.

Book ahead

Reserve the three-person sleeper cabin and Moomin World (opens in early June) early, as both sell out in peak summer.
