  • Morning train Baku to Gabala (about 3h 20m), scenic after Laki
  • Check into a Gabala house with pool, lunch in town

When to go

Late September is 22-28°C in Baku with autumn colour in the Gabala mountains — comfortable, dry and off the summer crowds.

Book the train a month out

The Baku-Gabala economy train sells at ticket.ady.az exactly one month ahead and fills quickly for the scenic morning service.

Getting around

Bolt covers Baku and Gabala cheaply and takes card; the Gobustan-Absheron day runs as a private minivan with driver and all entry fees included.

SIM & cash

Pick up an Azercell or Bakcell SIM at GYD arrivals for cheap data, and carry crisp USD notes to exchange at city booths.
