Shamva

Shamva is a gold-mining town in north-eastern Mashonaland Central, located approximately 100 km north-east of Harare. The Shamva Mine is one of Zimbabwe's oldest and most productive gold mines, operating since the early 20th century. The town developed around the mine and retains a strong mining character. The surrounding countryside is scenic, with granite hills and commercial farmland.

The nearest airport is Harare (HRE), 100 km south-west (1.5 hours by road).

By Train

No passenger train service.

By Car / Road

Shamva is 100 km north-east of Harare via the Bindura road and a turn-off (1.5 hours). Minibus kombis from Bindura serve the route.

The town is small and walkable. A vehicle is useful for exploring the surrounding area.
