Why visit Shibuyunji?

Shibuyunji is a rural district and administrative boma in Central Province, Zambia, located roughly 65 kilometres west of Lusaka. Formerly part of Lusaka Province before its transfer to Central Province in 2018, the area sits between the national capital and the eastern edge of the Kafue Flats. Smallholder farming, cattle rearing, and mining operations around nearby Nampundwe drive the local economy.

Travelers visit Shibuyunji to experience rural Sala cultural traditions, attend annual regional ceremonies, and explore the surrounding granite hills and agricultural lands. The district serves as the traditional seat of the Shakumbila Chiefdom, making it a focal point for regional Sala identity and annual gatherings.

The district has a tropical savanna climate with three distinct seasons. The cool dry season from May to August brings daytime temperatures between 20°C and 26°C, with night temperatures dropping to 8°C–12°C. The hot dry season during September and October brings temperatures peaking from 30°C to 36°C. The rainy season runs from November through April, delivering annual rainfall of 700–900 mm and daytime temperatures averaging 22°C to 28°C.
