Jiblah
Ibb, Yemen
Why visit Jiblah?
Jiblah is a historic town in Ibb Governorate, Yemen, perched on a hilltop about 15 km south of Ibb city. It was the capital of the Sulayhid dynasty in the 11th and 12th centuries under Queen Arwa al-Sulayhi, one of the few female monarchs in Islamic history. The town is famous for the Queen Arwa Mosque, a masterpiece of Yemeni Islamic architecture. Jiblah's old city is a maze of stone houses with white gypsum trim, clinging to the steep hillside. The surrounding terraced fields are among the greenest in Yemen. The climate is mild and pleasant year-round, with the best time to visit from March to October.
