Cao Loc
Lạng Sơn, Viet Nam
Why visit Cao Loc?
Cao Loc is a district in north-central Lạng Sơn Province, immediately south of the Chinese border and east of the provincial capital. The district seat is the town of Cao Lộc, located on National Highway 1A between Lang Son city and the Đồng Đăng border crossing, giving it a strategic position on the main trade corridor between Vietnam and China.
The district is a mix of lowland areas along the Kỳ Cùng River and limestone karst hills. The population includes Kinh, Tày, and Nùng communities, with cross-border trade providing much of the economic activity. The district's proximity to Lang Son city (just 5 km south) means it functions partly as a suburban extension of the provincial capital.
Cao Loc's climate mirrors Lang Son city: cool dry winters (December–February) and hot wet summers (May–September). The October–April dry season is the most comfortable time to visit.
