About Kien Luong

Kien Luong (Kiên Lương) is a rural district of Kiến Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam. It covers an area of 906 km² with a population of around 112,000 (2019). The district capital is the township of Kien Luong. The area is known for its limestone karst landscapes, coastal scenery, and the Ba Lua archipelago (Quần đảo Bà Lụa), a cluster of small islands off the coast that are increasingly popular for boat trips and snorkelling.

The climate follows the tropical monsoon pattern, with a dry season from November to April and a wet season from May to October. The district includes several communes: Binh An, Binh Tri, Duong Hoa, Hoa Dien, Kien Binh, Hon Nghe, and Son Hai.

How to reach

By Plane

The nearest airport is Rach Gia Airport (VKG IATA), approximately 70 km away. From Rach Gia, buses and taxis connect to Kien Luong town.

By Train

By Car / Road

Kien Luong lies on National Highway 80, about 70 km from Rach Gia and 30 km from Ha Tien. Buses between Rach Gia and Ha Tien pass through the district. Local buses connect the district centre to surrounding communes.

Motorbike taxis and local buses are the main means of transport within the district. The area is relatively flat and suitable for cycling in and around the town centre. Boats can be hired at the coast to visit the Ba Lua archipelago.
