Dien Khanh

Why visit Dien Khanh?
Diên Khánh is a rural district in central Khánh Hòa province, located about 10 km west of Nha Trang along the Cai River valley. The district is best known for the Diên Khánh Citadel (Thành cổ Diên Khánh), a well-preserved Vauban-style fortress built in the late 18th century under Emperor Gia Long. The town of Diên Khánh (thị trấn Diên Khánh) serves as the administrative centre and has a relaxed, provincial atmosphere far from the beach-tourism crowds of Nha Trang. The surrounding landscape is a mix of rice paddies, low hills, and market gardens that supply produce to nearby Nha Trang.
The climate is typical of the central coastal lowlands, with a tropical monsoon pattern. The rainy season runs from September to December, while the dry season from January to August brings hot, sunny weather. The best time to visit is during the dry season.
