Tien Lu
Hưng Yên, Viet Nam
Why visit Tien Lu?
Tien Lu (Tiên Lữ) is a rural district in the south-central part of Hưng Yên province, bordered to the west by the Red River. The district capital is Tien Lu town, a quiet agricultural centre. Tien Lu is one of the less-developed districts of Hưng Yên, with a landscape dominated by rice paddies, longan orchards, and vegetable farms.
The district is notable for its traditional carpentry and wood-carving villages, where artisans produce furniture and Buddhist statues using techniques passed down over centuries. Tien Lu also has a cluster of well-preserved pagodas and communal houses, though none is individually famous enough to draw significant tourism. The appeal of Tien Lu lies in its authentic rural atmosphere and the opportunity to observe traditional crafts in their natural village setting.
Tien Lu has a humid subtropical climate. The best travel months are October–April (autumn to early summer), when temperatures are moderate and rainfall low. Summer is hot and humid, with frequent thunderstorms.
