Why visit Vi Thuy?

Vị Thủy is a rural district (huyện) in Hậu Giang province, located in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. The district has a population of approximately 90,000 (2019). It is bordered by Phụng Hiệp district to the east, Vị Thanh city and Giồng Riềng district (Kiên Giang province) to the west, Long Mỹ town and Long Mỹ district to the south, and Châu Thành A district to the north.

Vị Thủy is a predominantly agricultural district, characterised by flat terrain criss-crossed by canals and waterways. Rice farming is the primary economic activity, along with fruit orchards, vegetable cultivation, and aquaculture. National Highway 61 runs through the district, connecting it to Vị Thanh and the broader regional road network. The district town is Nàng Mau, now part of the larger Vị Thủy commune following the 2025 administrative reorganisation that merged Hậu Giang province into the expanded Cần Thơ municipality.

The climate is tropical monsoon with a dry season from December to April and a rainy season from May to November. The best time to visit is during the dry season when roads are in good condition and the weather is pleasant.
