Lecheria

Lechería is an upscale coastal city in Anzoátegui state, located on a peninsula just east of Puerto La Cruz. It has developed into one of Venezuela's most exclusive residential and tourism destinations, characterised by modern high-rise apartment buildings, marinas, and well-maintained beaches. It is known for its resort-style atmosphere, high-end shopping, and its role as the eastern anchor of the Barcelona–Puerto La Cruz–Lechería metropolitan corridor.

The climate is tropical and hot year-round, with average temperatures of 26–33 °C. The dry season from December to April offers the best weather for beach activities.

Lechería's layout is defined by its coastal setting. The peninsula is lined with beaches on both sides, with the main commercial district along Avenida Principal de Lechería.

By Plane

General José Antonio Anzoátegui International Airport (BLA) in Barcelona is 15 km west. Taxis cost about USD 12–20 and take 20 minutes.

By Car / Road

Lechería is 8 km east of Barcelona and 5 km east of Puerto La Cruz via the coastal highway. From Caracas, 4–5 hours (320 km).

Bus: Buses arrive at Puerto La Cruz bus terminal, then a short taxi ride (USD 3–5) to Lechería.

Lechería is walkable along the beachfront. Taxis cost USD 3–5 within the city.

• Playa Lido — The main urban beach with calm waters and a promenade lined with restaurants.

• Playa El Morro — A beach on the eastern side of the peninsula with sunset views.

• Marina de Lechería — Yacht marina with waterfront dining.

• El Morro de Lechería (Fortín Doña Magdalena) — An 18th-century Spanish fort offering panoramic coastal views.

• Centro Comercial Plaza Mayor — A modern shopping mall.

• Beach days at Playa Lido or Playa El Morro.

• Boat excursions to Mochima National Park from the marina or Puerto La Cruz.

• Kitesurfing — Trade winds provide good conditions.

Lechería has the most sophisticated dining scene in eastern Venezuela, emphasising seafood.

• Bora Bora Beach Club — Beachfront lounge serving ceviche and grilled fish. Mains USD 8–18.
• Pizzería Mamma Mia — Italian classics. Mains USD 7–15.

Lively bar scene centred on the marina and beachfront. Cocktail bars serve international and rum-based drinks. Bottled water only.

Centro Comercial Plaza Mayor and CC Sigo host international and local brands. Boutiques along Avenida Principal sell clothing and accessories.
