Overland Park

Why visit Overland Park?

Overland Park is the second-largest city in Kansas, located in Johnson County directly south of Kansas City. Developed primarily during the mid-to-late 20th century as a master-planned community, it has grown into an economic center with corporate offices, retail corridors, and suburban residential neighborhoods.

Travelers visit Overland Park for its botanical gardens, regional dining, family attractions, and extensive parks. The city provides a convenient base for exploring the Kansas City metropolitan area, offering highway access to sports stadiums and cultural institutions alongside its own museums and shopping centers.

The city is arranged on a rectangular grid. East-west roads are numbered sequentially, while north-south thoroughfares bear names. Metcalf Avenue serves as the central commercial corridor running the length of the city. Interstate 435 loops through the center, connecting east toward Missouri and west toward Interstate 35. The local climate is humid continental, characterized by four distinct seasons with hot summers, cold winters, and moderate transitional periods in spring and autumn.
