Why visit Inverness?

Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, sits at the head of the Moray Firth where the River Ness flows out of Loch Ness. It's the cultural and commercial centre of the Highlands, with a compact city centre, a medieval castle (housing the Sheriff Court), and excellent restaurants.

The city is the natural base for exploring Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield, the Cairngorms, and the north coast.
