Why visit Mukono?

Mukono is a growing town located about 25 km east of Kampala along the Kampala–Jinja highway. As the seat of Mukono District, it has developed rapidly as a commuter town for Kampala and is home to several educational institutions, including Uganda Christian University (UCU) and the Mukono campus of Kyambogo University. The town has a youthful, energetic atmosphere shaped by its large student population.

Mukono sits in the fertile hills of eastern Central Uganda, an area known for coffee, banana, and food crop production. The dominant language is Luganda, and the town maintains a strong Buganda cultural identity.
