Camliyayla

Mersin, Turkey

Why visit Camliyayla?

Çamlıyayla is an inland district town in central Mersin Province, located in the Taurus Mountains north of Mersin. It is a small mountain settlement serving as a summer retreat. Nearby stands Namrun Castle (also known as Lampron), a fortress dating to Roman times and rebuilt by Byzantines, Armenians and Seljuks in turn; from the 11th century it was the ancestral seat of the Armenian Hethumid princes and a stronghold guarding the route to the Cilician Gates, before passing to Ottoman rule.
