Aydin

Aydın is a city in western Turkey, serving as the capital of Aydın Province. It lies on the fertile Büyük Menderes River plain, an area known for its olive groves, cotton fields, and fig orchards. The province is one of Turkey's most important agricultural regions. Aydın has a long history — ancient Tralles was located here, and several important archaeological sites are nearby.

Aydın has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters.

İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB IATA) is about 100 km northwest, with extensive domestic and international flights. The İzmir–Aydın motorway connects in about 1 hour.

By Train

Aydın is on the İzmir–Denizli railway line, with regular regional train services.

By Car / Road

Aydın is on the O-31/İzmir–Denizli motorway. The otogar has frequent buses from İzmir (1 hour), Denizli (1.5 hours), and other cities.

The city centre is compact and walkable. Dolmuşes and taxis serve the wider area.
