La Marsa
Tunis, Tunisia
Why visit La Marsa?
La Marsa is the northernmost coastal suburb of Tunis, located about 12 km from the city centre along the Gulf of Tunis. It is the most upscale of the Tunis coastal suburbs, known for its marina (Le Port de Plaisance de La Marsa), the long sandy Saf Saf beach, and a relaxed, slightly bohemian atmosphere. The town has been a favoured residential area for diplomats and affluent Tunisians since the colonial period, and retains a French-Mediterranean character with its villa-lined streets and seafront promenade.

The TGM light-rail line terminates at La Marsa station, with frequent service from Tunis Marine (25–30 minutes, every 10–20 minutes during the day). Taxis from central Tunis cost 15–20 DT. From Tunis-Carthage Airport, a taxi takes approximately 20 minutes and costs about 20 DT.
La Marsa is easily walkable — the TGM station, the marina, the beach, and the main shopping street (Rue du Commerce) are all within a 15-minute radius. Taxis are available for trips to the nearby suburbs of Sidi Bou Said and Carthage. The TGM provides convenient access to the entire coastal strip.
What are the things to do?
