The most common way to reach Soibada is by mikrolet (shared minibus) or shared taxi from the municipal capital of Manatuto. Roads in the area are mostly sealed but with some unpaved sections.

What are the things to do?

An inland village in Manatuto municipality, known as the birthplace of several prominent Timorese independence figures. It has a notable Catholic church and pilgrimage significance.

Trekking and hiking in the surrounding mountains and hills are the primary draw. Coffee plantation tours are available during the harvest season (May–August). Birdwatching, photography, and village visits are also popular.

Accommodation options in Soibada are very limited. Most visitors stay in Manatuto or another larger town and visit Soibada as a day trip. If you need to stay overnight, enquire locally about homestay possibilities with families — this is common in rural Timor-Leste.

Basic goods and daily necessities are available at small local shops (kiosks) in Soibada. Fresh produce is sold at the local market. For more extensive shopping, the district capital has a wider selection of goods. ATMs are not commonly found outside the main towns, so bring sufficient cash.
