Harem
Idlib, Syria
Why visit Harem?
Harem (also spelled Harim) is a town in the Idlib Governorate of northwestern Syria, located about 25 km northeast of Idlib city, near the Turkish border. It is an ancient settlement dating back to the Hellenistic period. The town is dominated by a medieval citadel on a hilltop, built by the Ayyubids and later modified by the Mamluks. Harem has a predominantly Kurdish and Arab population and was a site of significant conflict during the Syrian civil war.
The climate is Mediterranean: hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons.
