The area has a long history, with Roman settlements nearby and medieval roots in the Habsburg territories. Today Möhlin is primarily a residential town with good transport connections to Basel. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers typical of the Upper Rhine plain.

Möhlin is served by the S1 line of the Basel S-Bahn, with regular trains to Basel SBB (20 minutes), Rheinfelden, and Frick.

Möhlin is accessible via the A3 motorway, taking the Möhlin exit. From Basel it is about 20 minutes by car.
