Sveta Trojica v Slovenskih goricah is a small municipality in the Slovenske Gorice (Slovene Hills) of northeastern Slovenia. The municipality takes its name from its main settlement, centred around a hilltop church dedicated to the Holy Trinity (Sveta Trojica). The landscape is defined by rolling vineyard-covered hills, orchards, and a patchwork of agricultural fields typical of the Styrian wine region.
The Slovenske Gorice hills are one of Slovenia's premier wine-growing areas, and Sveta Trojica is at the heart of this tradition. The terrain is gentle and undulating, with elevations ranging from 200 to 400 metres, creating an ideal microclimate for viticulture. The area is known for white wines, particularly Šipon (Furmint), Sauvignon, and Laški Rizling.
The municipality is small and rural, with a population of around 2,000. It is not a major tourist destination but offers an authentic experience of Slovenian wine country. The best time to visit is late spring through autumn, when the vineyards are green and harvest activities take place in autumn.
When is the best time to visit?
Late May through October provides the best conditions. Autumn (September–October) is particularly rewarding during grape harvest season, with local wine festivals and cellar-door events. Summer is warm and pleasant for cycling through the vineyards.
