Plaisance

Plaisance is a a commercial and residential district east of Victoria centre on central Mahe, Seychelles. It is primarily a commercial district with a handful of local shops and guesthouses.

Its location near the capital makes it a convenient base for travellers exploring Mahe.

The southeast monsoon (May-September) brings the most comfortable conditions — sunny mornings with cooling trade winds. The northwest monsoon (November-March) is warmer and wetter. April and October are transitional months.

Plaisance is served by local buses running between Victoria and the southern districts. Taxis can be pre-booked. Renting a car is the most flexible option for exploring the island.

Small Creole restaurants (kaz kreol) in the area serve grilled fish, octopus curry (kari zourit), and breadfruit chips. For a wider selection of restaurants, head to Victoria or Beau Vallon.

The district celebrates the national Festival Kreol (October) with local food stalls and music. All Saints' Day (1 November) is observed with cemetery gatherings.
