Overview

La Digue is one of the main inhabited islands of Seychelles, lying east of Praslin. The island is famous for its towering granite boulders, ox-cart transport, and the iconic Anse Source d'Argent — widely considered the most photographed beach in the world. La Digue has a relaxed, car-free character; most residents and visitors get around by bicycle or on foot.

The island forms a single district within Seychelles, with the main settlements of La Passe and Anse Reunion.

When to Visit

The south-east monsoon (May-September) offers the best weather. The north-west monsoon (November-March) brings more rain. April and October are calm transitional months.

Cuisine

Creole seafood is the staple — grilled fish, octopus curry, and coconut-based dishes. La Passe has a handful of restaurants; the island is also known for its vanilla and fruit chutneys.

Culture & Festivals

La Digue celebrates Festival Kreol (October) with traditional music, dancing, and food. The island's slow pace and traditional architecture are part of its cultural appeal.
