Why visit Goudomp?
Goudomp is a riverside town on the Casamance River and the capital of Goudomp Department, one of three departments created with the Sédhiou region in 2008. Its name means "place of the baobab trees" in Mandinka. The town's population was 15,993 at the 2023 census, up from 12,870 in 2013. Goudomp has long been a trade and agricultural centre for the surrounding Middle Casamance, where fertile land supports rice, millet, and peanut farming.
