Faleasiu
A'ana, Samoa
Why visit Faleasiu?
Faleasiu (also spelled Faleasi'u) is one of the largest village settlements on the island of Upolu in Samoa. Located on the northwestern coast of the island within the A'ana district, it has a population of 4,177 (2016 census), making it a significant population centre. The village is part of the A'ano Alofi 1 Electoral Constituency.
Faleasiu consists of five sub-villages (pito nu'u): Safee, Sapulu, Lealalii, Moamoa, and Tauo'o, each with its own traditional leadership under the broader village council. The village holds historical significance as the birthplace of the prominent Samoan historian Teo Tuvale (1855–1919). Tuvale's father, Vaaelua Petaia (1822–1881), was one of the first Samoan Christian converts to the London Missionary Society and served as the first pastor in the village. Malua Theological College, a short distance away, trained many of Samoa's early church ministers.
Samoa enjoys a tropical climate with consistent temperatures around 27–30°C year-round. The May-to-October dry season is the most comfortable time to visit, while the wet season (November to April) brings higher rainfall and occasional cyclones.

Ask on WhatsAppHow do you get there?
By Plane
Faleolo International Airport (APW) is approximately 8 km west of Faleasiu — a 10–15 minute drive by taxi, costing around 20–30 WST.
By Car / Road
Faleasiu is about 27 km west of Apia on the main coastal road — roughly a 30-minute drive. The road is sealed. Regular buses from Apia's Fugalei market serve the northwest coast route, passing through Faleasiu throughout the day.
The village sprawl across its five sub-villages makes walking between sections feasible but time-consuming. The main road is served by buses heading toward Apia and the airport. For visiting the sub-villages, a taxi or rental car is more convenient.
