Why visit Pochep?

Pochep is a small town in the central-eastern part of Bryanskaya oblast', located approximately 60 km east of the regional capital Bryansk. First mentioned in chronicles in the 12th century, the town has roots in the medieval Principality of Bryansk and played a role in the region's early history as a fortified settlement. Today it is a quiet agricultural town surrounded by forested countryside.

The town sits amid rolling mixed forest and agricultural land, with the Bolva River flowing nearby. The climate is continental, with warm summers (18–25 °C) and cold, snowy winters (−10 to −20 °C). Pochep retains a modest, unhurried atmosphere, with its historic churches, central square, and surrounding woodland providing a sense of deep rural Russia.
