Why visit?

Olt County lies in the Muntenia region of southern Romania along the Olt River, near the Danube. Its seat, Slatina, sits on the river's eastern bank and holds the Olt County Museum, with prehistoric, Roman, and later historical collections. Tourist infrastructure in the county is limited, but the ruins of Sucidava Fortress and the EuroVelo 6 cycle route along the Danube and Olt rivers draw some visitors passing through toward Vâlcea, Gorj, or Mehedinți.

When is the best time to visit?

May through October offers the mildest weather for river activities and cycling.
